FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Kiah?
Kiah means ‘from the beautiful place’ and we believe this suits our store perfectly as we aim to source products that respect the Earth through sustainable, organic and ethical practices.

Is Kiah cheaper than other health food stores?
We are passionate about making healthy foods accessible to everyone, and we believe that achieving and maintaining good health should be an affordable option for all people.

Is everything in Kiah organic?
Our range includes certified organic food, produce, personal and homecare, however we also stock products which are not organic that can cater to preferences including biodynamic, sustainable, locally-made, fair-trade, raw, vegan, gluten-free and sugar-free.

What does organic actually mean?
Organic agriculture is a production system that omits the use of synthetic fertilisers, pesticides, growth regulators and livestock feed additives. Organic producers instead rely on biodiversity, ecological processes and cycles to restore soil fertility and maintain biological cycles.
Looking for the Australian Certified Organic (ACO) logo ensures that the product you are purchasing has met stringent requirements to comply with certification, and guarantees it to be free range, non-GMO, water efficient and biodiversity friendly.

Who are our people?
Our staff are likeminded people who share our enthusiasm for healthy, eco-conscious products. We also have nutritionists and dietitians available in-store for advice and one-on-one consultations.

What can a dietitian do for me?
Dietitians are experts in food and nutrition! Accredited Practising Dietitians (APDs) have completed a University degree and are required to maintain competence through continuing professional development and education each year.

What is the difference between a nutritionist and dietitian?
A nutritionist will usually have completed a form of tertiary study in nutrition, food science or public health, and can help to provide advice on food choices to achieve optimal health. A dietitian will be able to provide advice for achieving optimal health through diet, as well as advice on dietary therapy for medical conditions. In Australia, all qualified dietitians are also nutritionists.
